Last year in my twenties

I turn 29 today and for many it is not a major milestone. For me, however it is an opportunity to hit pause, reflect on all my years on this small rock and decide where I want to be and what I want to achieve in the coming years.

My 28th year was by far one of the most rewarding and fulfilling one. I bought my very first home, got married, went on two major overseas trip and had a major career change.

It was an exciting but busy year. And as my husband so aptly put forward, I don’t know how I will top this year but I will give it a bloody good try.

So today, surrounded by my loved ones, I am taking the time to feel grateful for how lucky I am and how far I have come from the young and naïve island girl.

I am beyond grateful for my husband, someone who loves me so much that I cannot even begin to describe it, more so than I have ever been loved before. He has filled in the voids that I did not know existed in my life. He is my best friend, my confidant and my favourite person in the whole wide world.

Today, as I turn 29, I am taking the time to say thank you for all of those who have been here for me, and for all the love that I am surrounded with.

I feel ready for the years to come and for the challenges that they will bring. I am looking forward to the good times to come, the laughs to be shared and the lessons to be learned.

I hope that at the dusk of my life, I will be able to look back and feel as grateful and content as I feel today safe in the knowledge that I have lived my life to the fullest.
