London is one of my favorite cities with never ending options of things to see and do. The sheer size of this amazing city means that getting around efficiently is key. The traffic can be crazy, so the best way to get around is the public transport system.
So today, I have collected some of my favorite apps that allow me to navigate London’s complex transport system.
1. City Mapper
City Mapper is such a cool app. It gives you all the necessary information, including the amount of calories you have burned walking or cycling to that place. It also gives you the cost to get from point A to point B. It also alerts you when you need to get off.
2. Google Maps
Depending on your needs, you can choose to use either Google Maps or city mapper. The added benefit of Google Maps is that you can download and use it offline.
Taxis in London are prohibitively expensive, so Uber is the way to go. If you want to use the Uber service, then you need to download the app. Use the fare estimator to check how much it is, before you go.
You will need a credit card to use this service
4. Thames Clipper tickets
If you fancy travelling on the Thames, then the Thames Clipper is the way to go. The app allows you to view the timetable and the departure points as well as buy your ticket. All you have to do is activate your ticket once you board. This is especially handy as there is no need to print anything.
5. Tube Map
This is a great resource if you are new to the tube system. It gives you a comprehensive overview of the London underground map, station information as well as alerts of disruptions.
You can choose to purchase some other features.
6. Bus Mapper
The Bus mapper is great if you want to make use of the bus service in London. It allows you to track your buses with the live departure feature as well as plan your trip.
The Route planning feature allows you to determine the best bus option including the journey time and any bus changes required.
